Volunteering

Attention animal lovers! Volunteers are critical to our mission. Each FAV initiative relies on dedicated individuals to assist with events and programs that will raise funds and help increase adoptions at the Village. For more information please contact us at: VolunteersFAV@gmail.com.

You can also sign up for e-mail alerts specifically for volunteers! These alerts will be about specific needs at the Village as well as  events outside of the shelter that we need help with like microchip events, fundraisers, and offsite adoption events.

Volunteer Training at the Animal Village

Are you interested in working with the animals? Volunteers are needed each and every day to work with the dogs and cats at LRAV, and it is a great way to show our wonderful animals how much you care. Village volunteers provide countless hours of valuable service—hours that lead to more adoptable animals, more animals sent on transports, and more opportunities to show the community how special our animals are.

Below you will find information on the Volunteer Training Program at the Little Rock Animal Village, age requirements for volunteers, how to sign up for our distribution list, and important information for volunteers.

All volunteers must be 18 or older unless a parent/guardian who has also completed training is volunteering alongside them. The classes are now first-come, first-serve. You can fill out an application online or in person.

Training Classes

Your first step toward becoming a regular volunteer at the Little Rock Animal Village is to attend a volunteer training class. Volunteer training is scheduled for the second Saturday of each month and takes place at the Little Rock Animal Village (4500 Kramer Street in Little Rock). Volunteer training begins at 11:00am.

This is more of an orientation session than a training class. As Debbie Heller would say, "you're going to train me how to pet a cat?!" Not exactly. Here you will learn the ins and outs of the shelter, standard procedures, how things work, some do's and don'ts, including which animals you can interact with, and how to interact with everyone safely.

Join the Kitty Krew

The cats at the Little Rock Animal Village have a wonderful team of volunteers who care for them. If you would like to join the team, attend a volunteer training session to get started.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with the Barn Cat program. These volunteers are trusted with transporting feral cats to their new homes, setting them up, and educating their new caregivers.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Kitty Krew, please contact us at volunteersFAV@gmail.com
