FAV Heartworm Fund

Heartworms are a serious problem in the South. A large number of animals coming into shelters are heartworm positive as a result of having not been on heartworm preventative. Treating heartworms is very expensive, and the Little Rock Animal Village simply does not have the funds to do so, meaning adopters of heartworm positive animals must pay for the treatment themselves. It can cost up to $1,000 to treat heartworms at a private vet, so obviously the obligation to pay for treatment is a significant obstacle for potential adopters.

That's where we step in.

Thanks to the Friends of the Animal Village Heartworm Fund we are able to help adopters with the cost of treatment so that heartworms are no longer a deterrent to adoption!

Through our heartworm fund and partnership with the Village, we are able to help adopters with the cost of heartworm treatment so that heartworms are no longer a deterrent to adoption. Right now the Animal Village is packed with heartworm positive animals. Able to treat heartworms at cost, it will cost approximately $300 per animal for us to treat them. As you make your end-of-year tax deductible donations, please consider donating to our Heartworm Fund, so that we can give every animal at the Village the best chance possible of finding their forever home.
