Volunteering

Attention animal lovers! Volunteers are critical to our mission. Each FAV initiative relies on dedicated individuals to assist with events and programs that will raise funds and help increase adoptions at the Village. For more information, please contact us at: VolunteersFAV@gmail.com.

Volunteer Training at the Animal Village
Are you interested in working with the animals? Volunteers are needed each and every day to work with the dogs and cats at LRAV, and it is a great way to show our wonderful animals how much you care. Village volunteers provide countless hours of valuable service—hours that lead to more adoptable animals, more animals sent on transports, and more opportunities to show the community how special our animals are.

Below you will find information on the Volunteer Training Program at the Little Rock Animal Village, age requirements for volunteers, and important information for volunteers.
All volunteers must be 18 or older unless a parent/guardian who has also completed training is volunteering alongside them. You must RSVP each person who will be attending the volunteer session. You can fill out an application online or in person.
Training Classes
Your first step toward becoming a regular volunteer at the Little Rock Animal Village is to attend a volunteer training class. Volunteer training is scheduled for the second and fourth Saturday of each month and takes place at the Little Rock Animal Village (4500 Kramer Street in Little Rock). Volunteer training begins at 11:00am and will take around an hour depending on class size. We recommend wearing closed toed shoes, no loose jewelry, and clothes you do not mind getting dirty. We will provide leashes, treats, and all other necessary supplies.

This is more of an orientation session than a training class. As Debbie Heller would say, "you're going to train me how to pet a cat?!" Not exactly. Here you will learn the ins and outs of the shelter, standard procedures, how things work, some do's and don'ts, including which cats and dogs you can interact with, and how to interact with everyone safely.
