Double Feature! FAV's Cats of the Week

Today is the LAST DAY to adopt a cat from the Little Rock Animal Village for only $40! Wally and Wesley are our cats of the week! Wally (Pet ID# 34897) is an absolutely gorgeous black kitty with green eyes who loves to play. Wesley (Pet ID# 34899) is a handsome tuxedo kitty who is so sweet and simply loves to be loved on. Meet Diadoito! FAV's Dog of the Week

Meet Diadoito the Border Collie! This beautiful border collie is our Dog of the Week! Diadoito (Pet ID# 35202) is an adult male who, true to the Border Collie breed, is full of energy and drive. Border collies are working dogs who need jobs to be happy. Just ask John D Waugh, the famous search and rescue dog! Once homeless, John D was adopted from the Little Rock Animal Village and trained by his mom to be a search and rescue dog. Recipe of the Month :: Ginger's Fourth of July Snaps

Making these cookies is a snap—and the results will be explosive! Keep in mind, these weekly recipes are not only all natural, but they are perfect bites for you and the dog in your life to share (just use separate bowls!). Ingredients checklist: 1/2 cup molasses 2 tablespoons honey 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup vegetable oil 3 cups white flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 2 tablespoons ground ginger 1/4 cup chopped pecans Your pup will feel like a regular ole Yankee Doodle Dandy after tasting one of these treats! There are currently so many cats coming into the Village each day that we're featuring two for our Cat of the Week! Ariel (Pet ID# 34633) and Kera (Pet ID# 34611) are our Cats of the Week! These kittens are both very sweet and are looking for forever homes to call their own. Ariel is a little shy at first but she will melt your heart once she warms up to you. Every Cat is our Cat of the Week!!

Guess what? Through the end of June, which is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, the adoption fee for all cats at the Little Rock Animal Village is only $40!! That's right, you can adopt a magical creature with healing powers (see infographic below!) for just $40 all month long, and give a home to a kitty who really really needs one. We have so many awesome kitties to pick from, we couldn't pick just one for Cat of the Week. Pictured below are just a few of the kitties at the Animal Village in need of homes! Meet Miles! FAV's Dog of the Week

Miles, with his extra-contagious grin, is our Dog of the Week! Another dachshund at the Little Rock Animal Village! Miles (Pet ID# 35207) is our Dog of the Week. Georgie the Overweight Tabby

Georgie the overweight tabby is on a quest that many people are currently struggling with: acceptance and happiness. Georgie is a 27 lbs, nine-year-old cat who was recently surrendered by his owner. Friends of the Animal Village put out a call for a foster, and one of our very own board members answered! Georgie obviously ate a bunch of human food because he cannot find solace in his cat food. His new foster mom has put him on a strict "catkins" diet. His hobbies include basking in windows, playing with golf balls, getting brushed, and following his foster mom around like a dog. There are currently so many cats coming into the Village each day that we're featuring three for our Cat of the Week! Meet Cap'n Jack (Pet ID# 34791), Suzi (Pet ID# 34868), and Max (Pet ID# 34496)! Cap'n Jack and Max are young tabby kittens who are very friendly and just gorgeous. They would love forever homes with families of their own who will play with and love on them. Suzi is a young Siamese cat whose hobbies include napping, chasing feather wands, laying in the sun, and looking pretty. Who We Are & What We Do

We just reached 1,800 likes on Facebook! That may not sound like much, but that's double where we were about this time last year. Since we have gained so many new followers, we thought we'd take the opportunity to formally introduce ourselves to our new friends. We are Friends of the Animal Village, a 501(c)3 organization run by a dedicated group of volunteers, and our mission is to support and promote the Little Rock Animal Village, our city's municipal animal shelter. The Little Rock Animal Village is the physical location for Little Rock Animal Services, or "Animal Control." The Little Rock Animal Village's operating budget is funded by taxpayer dollars, but essentially only to the extent
